Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Newsletter for 2017

I hope all families have enjoyed the changes we have made to the School Newlstter during this year. Easy access via the website or by email link means it can be accessed at your convenince.  In 2017 we will be publishing the newsletter each fortnight, so I look out forward to bringing you many articles and student photos of all the interesting events that occur in our school.

Showcase Concert 30th November

Next Wednesday 30th November we will be hosting our annual Showcase concert for our instrumental students.  The night will begin at 6pm and be held in the grade 6 classrooms.  These students have practised long and hard and I warmly welcome families of the children to come and celebrate their successful year.

Curriculum Day 6th December

Just a reminder that December 6th is a curriculum day, so no students are required at school on this day.

Library

This week will be the student’s last chance to borrow from the library.  All library books need to be returned to Mrs. Ellis in the library by Friday 2nd December for stock taking.

Prep and Year 2 Swimming

This Friday our Prep and Year 2 students will be attending swimming lessons for the next two weeks (excluding December 6th due to curriculum day). Parents are very welcome to attend these sessions and watch and amaze in the growth that our students achieve when they have explicit instruction for 2 weeks.  Please be aware that swimming is hungry work so  pack extra food so they can maintain their energy levels . During this time you might find that your child is a little more tired than usual.  Swimming is part of the curriculum and the expectation is that all students will attend.  Thank you for your support.

Prep Transition

On Tuesday we had the great pleasure in welcoming parents to our night time transition session and classroom experience.  This transition was specifically planned to cater for working parents so they had an opportunity to join with their child in their first experience in their classroom and meet their classroom teacher.  The children feel highly supported by having a parent join them in their classroom which all adds to the positive experience in coming to school which is crucial.  Thank you to the amazing support of dads especially last night is was wonderful.

I am looking forward to this Thursday for our next transition session.  This session the parents leave their child in the classroom with their teacher and are invited to a morning tea in the Multi-Purpose room where we will have guest speakers.  Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Parent Helpers Thank you Morning Tea

On Wednesday 7th December we will be holding a special morning tea in our hall from 11.00 to 11.30am to thank all the parent helpers and volunteers who have made such a difference to the children in our school this year.  Invitations will be sent home but it is not an ‘invite-only’ event and if you have volunteered in any way at the school this year or otherwise helped out, you are most welcome to attend.  I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Wednesday the 7th December where we can personally thank you for your contribution to our school.

Kind Regards

Leanne Jennings
