Congratulations to February's winners of the Mega Monthly Maths Challenge!!  Junior student Nikolas Harpas (1/2TM), Middle student Xavier Boyle (3/4N) and Senior student Stephanie Rostan-Herbert (5/6LG) each enjoy receiving their Maths prize at assembly on Friday.  Thank you again to all students who entered, and be sure to enter this month for you chance to win!

Well done also to the students who collected their 'Silver Certificates' from Mathletics.  These will be handed out fortnightly at assembly, so be sure to attend Week 7's assembly.

MMMQ 2017 - Questions for March

1 - My Kitchen Rules

Create a 3 course recipe that you would serve if you were on My Kitchen Rules or Masterchef.  List all the ingredients for the entree, main and dessert.  Find the price for all ingredients.  List the total cost for each meal, the 3 meals combined and roughly how much each person’s meals cost.  If you can, make the meals and include a photo of them.

2 - What number am I?

Solve my “What number am I” question, and then create 7 of your own.

I am odd.

My digits add up to 7.

I am a multiple of 5.

What number am I?

3 - Money, money, money

Collect 10 coins and tell me as much about them as you can.

How much do they add up to?

Is the value of all the gold coins worth more than the value of all the silver coins?

What years were they made in?  What is the sum of all the years?

Research what metal they are actually made from.

How many different ways can you order them?  Thickest to thinnest, newest to oldest, largest to smallest etc.

What else can you tell me about them?

Be sure to get your answers to either myself or your homeroom teacher before the end of March!

All the best,

Mr Mullavey

LITERACY NEWS

SPELLODROME

Starting tomorrow we have a 2 week trial with Spellodrome. It is from the same company as Mathletics. I would like to gauge how useful it is and how much the children enjoy using it.

Students log on to the following website and use their user name and password for Mathletics.

 www.spellodrome.com.au

Please let me know what you think.

LITERACY COMPETITION

Next week is our School Open Day. I would love to have lots of entries into this month's competition to promote our school.

Create a poster, write a poem or persuasive letter telling people why they should send their children to St Mary's. All entries will be displayed around the school. If you get your entry in before next Wednesday, lots of new parents will see it.

There will be individual prizes as well as a prize for the class with the most entries!
