MacKillop Review

What a busy period it has been for the MacKillop VCAL students! Years 11 and 12 have been working hard to complete outcomes and progress towards their goals. The Year 11s have organised the Cluster Feast Days for each Cluster. This involved communicating and coordinating with a number of staff members and Priests from around the college to arrange six masses on a single day. The hard work of the students was rewarded with a successful and memorable Cluster Feast Day across the college. The MacKillop Mass was conducted by Father O’Reilly and the new O’Reilly House was officially opened. The students learned about the significance of the design such as the Celtic Cross and the Sign of Peace that is seen upon entry.

During the school assembly that day MacKillop student, Lucas Blackman, was announced as the School Captain for 2020 along with Alicia Azzopardi. The whole MacKillop cohort couldn’t be prouder to have one of our own representing the college.

Following Feast Day, the Year 12s enjoyed the graduation breakfast. There were a number of interesting and hilarious costumes on show as the cohort celebrated their achievements since joining the college.

That evening staff, students and families gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral for the Graduation Mass and Ceremony. Many students experienced a mix of emotions as they reflected on their time at school and await their new pathways in the future. Proud parents vied for photos of the graduants outside the Cathedral and couldn’t wait to see their children up on the altar receiving their stoles. MacKillop staff would like to wish all of our Year 12s all the best in the next stages of their journey.
