Farewell Mrs Curtis

Mrs Judy Curtis
This week we farewelled a former member of staff and much loved friend, Mrs Judy Curtis, who went to be with the Lord just one short week ago after a lengthy battle with cancer. Many of our staff and students attended her funeral which was held on Wednesday, 26th April. Sarah, Judy's youngest daughter, did an amazing job of painting the coffin as a farewell tribute to her Mother. As an Art teacher, we're sure Mrs Curtis would have loved it and no doubt made some witty comment on the unique work of art!
Mrs Curtis was an Art Teacher at Mildura Christian College from 2009 to 2014 as well as filling in teaching other classes where needed. She worked alongside Mrs Loris Tresize preparing the annual MCC Primary School Mini-Show, arranging artwork 'just so', along with the various other exhibits in the hall. Her 'judging' of the work was always fair and impartial, making sure every entrant received a certificate or encouragement award.
She had a wonderful witty sense of humour and enjoyed encouraging each of the students in their own creativity. Most of all though, she was an example of faith and courage. She rarely complained during her illness, though she experienced a great deal of discomfort and pain. Her heart was always for other people and she would always turn the conversation onto others, enquiring after their welfare, over her own.
We will miss her greatly but know that she is in a much better place with no more pain or suffering. We send our love and prayers to her husband Eugene and daughters Rachel and Sarah.
