Principal News

Dear Parents and Friends

It has been a particularly busy week this week at Trinity. On top of the usual schedule of learning, we have also welcomed our external school reviewer, who this week has come into Trinity, via Zoom, to review all aspects of our schools operation. Every 4 years all schools in Australia need to undertake a review process.

This week our reviewer Christine Wakling met with the Leadership Team, Admin Staff, Teachers, Learning Support Officers, Parents and of course our wonderful students. She asked questions around school climate, expectations, safety, relationships and Catholic Identity. I thank all those who happily contributed to each session and responded thoughtfully and honestly.

We are extremely proud of all the work undertaken at Trinity over this 4 year cycle and particularly during this very challenging year where we have not 'missed a beat' and have continued to work on implementing our school goals. Christine was very excited with what she has seen. Her full report with recommmnedations for the next 4 year School Improvement Plan will be presented to Catholic Education and the Trinity Leadership Team early in December. We will then be able to share this with our community.

Fr Huy

Fr Huy has announced to the parish and school that he will be moving on as Parish Priest of St.Ignatuis effective 1st January 2021. Fr Huy is very excited to be moving to Sydney closer to his family where he will take on a role working with Vietnam Veterans. Fr Truong will be taking over from him. We thank Fr Huy for all the support and guidance he has shown the school over the past years. We will say a proper formal farewell to him later this year.

This is also timely as Catholic School in Victoria change the governance arrangements from 1st January 2021.

This will see  a shift of governance from the Parish Priest transferred into a corporate entity - Catholic Education Melbourne.

The  new governance model is needed to:

  • allow the parish priest to focus on the mission of education in the parish
  • enhance the student outcomes for our schools
  • ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes
  • meet the civil requirement for an incorporated body to be established.

Remembrance Day

Like all things 2020, Remembrance Day took on a different look this year but the essence of the day was not forgotten on our students and staff.

We gathered for a Prayer Service via Zoom then our senior students led us into a minute's silence in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.

School Photos

Yay!!! It has been announced that school photos are able to go ahead from Thursday 19th November.  Advance Photos are hoping photos will be back before the end of the year  but as they are incredibly busy, there is a slight chance they may be held up till next year.

Senior School Camp

Restrictions have lifted which have enabled our senior school students to attend camp at the end of the year. Well done Frank Anania for rescheduling so we could secure this slot for our senior students.

Have a lovely weekend,

Lindy
