From the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians

The  weeks are definitely going quickly!!!!.  Just a reminder that tomorrow is a public holiday and that there is no school for the children. It seems strange to have a grand final holiday so late into October.

Footy Day

Today our students were invited to wear their favourite football teams' colours/jumpers/hats/scarves to school.  It was fantastic to view a sea of colours.  I was hoping to see all 270 students wearing Navy blue and white!!!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe next year.

Prep Transition

On Wednesday we held the first Prep transition session for this term via zoom.  We are hoping that the Prep 2021 students  will be allowed on site later this term. The children were entertained as they listened to stories from  Mrs Boyhan and Mrs Antonello, learnt French words with the assistance of our French leaders and danced to the song of Baby Shark  and many others.

More information will be sent home in the coming days regarding other transition times and a Prep 2021 Parent Information Evening.

Return to school

The return to school has been relatively smooth over the past two weeks. The  teachers  awareness of the need to re engage the students back into school life has contributed enormously to this. The school has also  commenced using assessment  tools ( PAT and BAS testing)  to help identity areas for further growth for our students.

Class structure for 2021

Last night  the Parish Education Board meet and discussed the class structure for 2021. There will be more information provided early next week. I thank the Board for their work in this area.

School Photos

School photos are all systems go!!!!!!!!  Our school photos for 2020 will take place on November 16th. Children are expected to wear their  full summer uniform on this day.

Book Week

Next week  (26th- 30th October) St. Bede's will be celebrating Book Week! The students are always very excited to immerse themselves in literacy activities during this week.

On Friday the 30th of October we will be celebrating the conclusion of Book Week with a dress up day and virtual parade. Children are encouraged to dress as a character from a favourite book and may be inspired by this year's Book Week theme, 'Curious Creatures, Wild Minds'.

Reminders

  • Once you have collected your child after school we ask that you leave the pick up area so that there  no congregating  occurs
  • Children are required to  bring their drink bottles to school
  • Please social distance at all times

Have a great long weekend

Brian
