Principal Team Report

Our current year 11 and 12 students have missed many of the rites of passage usually associated with these most important years of schooling.  The Later Years sub school team is currently working on a range of events to enusre those traditions are acknowledged and upheld.  Subject to COVID normal in 2021 wee are curretnly exploring the following events.

Valedictory Event for the Class of 2020

We are planning to run a valedictory event for the Class of 2020 in February next year subject to the state being COVID normal.  

Stay tuned, as by the next newsletter we are hoping to have pencilled in a date and venue.  We hope that the whole cohort is able to make it, and to come back and celebrate the year that was (or was not, depending of your perspective).

Alumni Afternoon

Early in February we invite the whole Year 12 cohort back to school to review the year. The Later Years team organises an assembly and afternoon, and students have a great opportunity to catch up with each other and their teachers, to talk about what they are up to now.  

Again, we ask students to keep this in mind. This year 12 cohort missed a lot of the rites of passage and this is a great chance to acknowledge and recognise the achievements of the cohort.

Year 12 Camp

A group of student leaders in Year12 next year are currently exploring the potential for a year 12 camp in 2021.  The purpose of this camp will be to have a bit of fun, build a sense of team and put the disappointments of 2020 behind us.  Stay tuned for further information.

Year 12 Formal 2021

After a major review of the events we run in the Later Years, we will be moving the Year 12 Formal to term 1.  

This will allow our students to start the year with a bang and to develop a strong sense of team.

Winter Ball 2021 Years10 and 11

In 2021 we will be running a winter ball for our Year 10 and 11 students.  This will occur in term 2, most likely in the week of the GAT.  

Later this term we will be calling for students who are interested in being a part of the Ball Organising Committee.  

This is a fantastic opportunity to establish some new traditions for Wantirna College.
