Music News

Well, we made it. The last "rehearsal" was held in Tullow yesterday to cap off a remarkable year. What has been lovely over the past five weeks is seeing and hearing our musicians grow into the rehearsal spaces in the Tullow Centre. Small groups have been forming and  recordings have been made as we bring together all of the different skills we have learnt over the lockdown. Miming across the top of recordings has been a new experience for our musicians, one that took a while to get used to. The youtube world today is run like that so these are good skills for our girls to learn.

I really want to encourage all of our girls to continue learning next year. In some ways the lockdown brought the meaning of why we learn music to the fore. It is a language but one that speaks right around the world. It is a language that will never leave them. I spent an hour last night with my daughter listening to our favourite tracks of the moment and it made me realise what a gift we have given them.

So to thank all the parents, friends, supporters and the girls themselves, we have compiled a Christmas in Tullow video special for you to enjoy. It features Honk, Heartstrings, Concert Band, Stage Band and a staff offering plus numerous small trios and a bloopers extra. You can click the link here:   A Killester Christmas in Tullow

Also there is a bonus track from the Brass Department. It has nothing to do with Christmas but I don't think the link worked properly last time I put it in the newsletter. It's the theme from Rocky. The Theme from Rocky by the Brass Department

2021 Music Application forms are now available to download on our website or for collection in the front office which is open until Tuesday 15th December.  Please email forms to ktaberner@killester.vic.edu.au

Merry Christmas everybody. Enjoy the holidays.
