Economics

On the 17th of November our Year 11 Economics class had an opportunity to re-enact a UN discussion meeting amongst one another. The session was extremely interesting and educational and everyone who participated enjoyed the session. Each student spoke about their chosen third world countries with enthusiasm and detail, with the goal of convincing the “UN” for their help. The session was exceedingly joyful and the class had a lot of fun with one another. We discussed the GDP and the current issues, as well as solutions which we may do to help each of the countries that were chosen by the students. The session was entirely run by the students which is what made the class very interesting and appealing. By the end of the session everyone had left with a greater understanding of third world countries and the problems which are happening there as well as ways which we may help. It helped us open our minds and realise how lucky we were to live in a country like Australia. Economics is a great subject for students to learn about current economic issues around the world and enhance their knowledge on many important topics, which will most certainly help in the future.

Business Management

On Thursday the 19th of October, our Business Management class had a ZOOM meeting with Morgan Hipworth who is the 19 year old owner of Bistro Morgan, a popular artisan donut store in Windsor. Morgan started off by giving an introduction about himself with a brief background of how he began Bistro Morgan as a Year 9 student, managing his school and work life so admirably. This gave us an insight of what it was like starting a business and the challenges he faced in doing so. We then had the opportunity to ask Morgan some questions about the staffing and operations of his business. Overall, this was a great experience for the class and it is something that we would love to do with other small business owners.
