"For our PDS Leadership biographies, we were to talk about someone in our lives that shows leadership. I chose my cousin Cindy Le, she is in primary school and someone who I see as a leader because she is someone who is able to change her mistakes into achievements.  I wrote about her and also had an interview with her. I wrote about all the qualities she has and all the points she demonstrates leadership." Emmy Le

The Intermediate and Senior VCAL students have presented their journey in 2020 in the form of a Visual Diary. According to the presentations that occurred recently, highlights of the VCAL year included:

  • SYN FM and making the Killester Radio Podcasts
  • Making the Affirmations Jars
  • Qualifying for First Aid and Anaphylaxis
  • The Teenage Survival Program - Selecting a Safe Car and Identifying Interactions with other Road Users
  • Smart Enterprise
  • Making a Face Mask
  • The Vietnam Veteran - Brendan

Last week the Intermediate VCAL students made Christmas Cards for the residents of Japara Springvale Aged Care Home. There were so many that they filled two envelopes. The hope is that their cards will make the lead up to Christmas a little brighter for the people who live at this facility.

It was a wonderful year and the VCAL students all achieved so much to help the Killester and wider community. Below are some photos of our Year 11 VCAL students cooking themselves morning to celebrate their final classes for 2020.

Mock Interviews

The Intermediate VCAL students ran Mock Interviews for Year 9 on Monday the 23rd of November. It was a great opportunity for all students - the Year 9 students learned from the knowledge of the Year 11's, who have casual employment and some experience in interviews. The Year 11 students encountered the different types of interview questions in preparation for their own Mock Interviews, held on the 1st of December.
