A MURRUMBEENA STORY

As part of our 100th Anniversary celebrations, our school commissioned a past student, Lachlan Hamilton, to draw our school. You will have seen the artwork as displayed on the 100th Anniversary advertising boards at the front and rear of the school. Over the coming weeks, the school will receive the framed original drawing and it will be hung in the office area as a memento of this milestone. The image has also been used as a feature on our 100th Anniversary memorabilia.

Below is Lach’s story.

Lachlan Hamilton - Born Melbourne, 14.07.1989

Lachlan Hamilton is a Melbourne based multidisciplinary visual artist, with a Bachelor of Fine Art Painting, from Monash University.

Having lived in a Murrumbeena since he was two years of age, Lachlan attended Murrumbeena Primary School from 1995, finishing in 2001 and completing his high schooling at McKinnon Secondary College. Keeping a keen interest in Art all throughout Primary and High School, he always aspired to be an Artist in the future.

Completing his Bachelor of Fine Art Painting in 2010, he is currently working as a freelance artist in and out of the studio developing a wide and varied body of work. Lachlan also shares his craft through teaching drawing.

Influenced and inspired by many artists working in the fields of painting, drawing, portraiture, street art and comic books, Hamilton's art draws on pop culture and his Fine arts background, combining beautifully to form an exciting visual style that brings the viewer something more than just a simple caricature of the icons he portrays.
