Principal's Notes

29th April 2022

Dear Parents and Families,

Firstly,  I would like to wish all our mothers a very Happy Mother's Day for Sunday. Also, a special mention also to the grandmothers, aunties, carers and others who are also providing the care and support for our children as well.

I hope you enjoy some special time with your families and enjoy a relaxing day.

Yesterday, we received notification that the Division Athletics will be postponed to Monday 9th June. All families with students attending have been advised of this change. We look forward to hearing how our super star athletes go and we wish them all the best of luck.

The Parents Club has been asked to cater for a Mooralla Golf Day on Friday 13th of May. They are still needing volunteers to assist with food and helpers on the day. The roster is on the school Whats App.  If you are able to help, please comment on the Whats App or contact Kate Thomas as soon as possible.

Just a reminder that on Thursday 2nd June Student Free Day for report writing for teachers.

Covid Update

As you aware we have quite a few students, staff and family members with Covid currently. Please ensure that regular testing is taking place during the school week, so we can try and get on top of this outbreak.  If any families need further rapid antigen tests due to having a household contact, please contact school.

Please ensure you contact the school if your child tests positive, either via email or on the school phone 5574 2282. If a family member has Covid, please inform the school as students in Year 3-6 will need to wear a mask indoors as a precaution. The students are always washing hands and using sanitizer to help stop the spread as well.

NAPLAN

The annual NAPLAN testing will begin next week for all students in Year 3 and 5. There are four tests. The timetable also allows for students that are absent to have catch up time on other days as well.

Tuesday - Writing

Wednesday - Reading

Thursday - Language conventions

Friday - Mathematics

This year is the first time for all the tests to be completed online except for the Year 3 writing which will still be paper based. Some students can feel quite anxious or a little nervous about these tests but the students have been practising similar tests and questions with Mrs Brabham and Miss Thompson so that they can feel confident and more at ease. Please contact the school if your child is getting concerned though.

Table Tennis

All students are participating in two table tennis lessons with trained coaches at HILAC with the Hamilton Table Tennis Association during May and June. This series of lessons is funded through the government’s Sporting Schools program. The children will travel by Herrmann’s bus to Hamilton on the Tuesdays. Please ensure you get the signed permission form back to school as soon as possible.
