3D Printing Build Group

Students at St Philip's are welcome to join the 3D Printing Build Group with teachers Bill Kerr and Matthew Johnson.

Students learn hands-on about the technicalities of 3D printing through close mentorship, and experimenting with printing their own designs or downloadable models from such sites as www.thingiverse.com. Students can also purchase and assemble their very own 3D printer with the close support of teachers and fellow classmates.

Staff member Joey Klarenbeek was offered to have a 3D print of his choice from thingiverse.com and after some searching selected and sent through a hand model. The group downloaded the model, set it up to print and after approximately 3 hours, it was finished in a brilliant bronze. Now Joey has it in his office among his original artworks and couldn't be happier with the 3D print.
