Test Date: 10 May until 12 May
If you have a daughter in Year 7 or Year 9, she will be required to complete online NAPLAN testing during May.
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Years 7 and 9 students is held in May each year. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals and can be used to improve student achievement.
The assessments are undertaken nationwide, every year, in the second full week in May. At the Academy, tests will be conducted from 10 May until 12 May. All students in Year 7 and 9 had the opportunity to complete a practice NAPLAN test on Thursday 24 March.
NAPLAN is made up of tests in the four areas (or ‘domains’) of:
At the Academy of Mary Immaculate, all testing will be conducted on line.
The NAPLAN Online assessment platform (under Education Services Australia's direction) has state-of-the-art security protections. The online platform is designed and has been extensively tested to be compliant with government and industry standards for security, interoperability, privacy and accessibility.
In preparing for NAPLAN Online, the online test environment has been used in various online assessment activities as well as the National Assessment Program: Civics and Citizenship sample assessment in 2016. These activities have allowed us to test the security of the system.
Later in the year you will receive your child’s personal NAPLAN report. The report will describe your child’s particular skills in Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.
The report will also show how your child performed in relation to national minimum standards. These describe the minimum acceptable standards for students across Australia.

As you know, we commenced a Homework Club for Years 7 & 8 in mid-March. We have enjoyed a positive start to this program, with approximately 20 students participating, every Monday and Wednesday.
Please do encourage your daughters to make use of this opportunity, particularly if they need support.
