House Athletics Carnival

On Wednesday 30 March, the Academy community came together to participate in our annual House Athletics Carnival. Goold were eyeing off 3 in a row; however they were met with fierce opposition from Frayne, McAuley and Sherlock. Sherlock were looking to be the first House since McAuley in 2014 to do the Athletics/Swimming double.

The participation rates were at an all-time high and it was an exceptional sight to see so many students competing in events and just giving it their very best for their House. In the end, Goold were able to hold off a fierce challenge from Sherlock to take out another House Athletics carnival. Congratulations to Mr. Mark Molino and Poppy Sayers for leading their house to victory. We will have some House activities in Term 2 before a busy term 3 in preparing for Mercy Day.

SCSA Swimming

The SCSA Swimming team had an enormous task jumping into Division 1 this year. To say the PE staff and myself were proud of our swimmers is an understatement. They competed and represented our College with enthusiasm, positivity and absolute class. The morning swim squad training paid off and we were able to match it with many of the bigger schools. I am looking forward to next year’s SCSA carnival as I know that we will be more comfortable at competing at the higher level having experienced this in 2022.

I am looking forward to seeing our students compete in a busy term 2.  We start with futsal, then make our way to badminton, basketball, volleyball, athletics, cross-country and hockey. Plenty of opportunities to get involved in sport at Academy.
