Student Services : Careers

Welcome back to Term 2

This term we have Careers action at all levels of the school, with our Year 10 students undertaking work experience; our Year 12s beginning to seriously plan their transition; and students in Years 8-11 preparing for course and subject selection early next term.

Year 10 Work Experience

Well done to all the Year 10 students who worked hard to try to secure a placement for week four this term.  Much of the learning takes place in finding an employer and completing all the paperwork requirements by the due date.  It was great to see the resilience of students and the way that most took themselves out of their comfort zone in cold-calling, meeting with employers and chasing up paperwork.

Students who were unable to secure a placement by the due date will be completing Virtual Experience research tasks from home.  Those who do have a placements should ensure they are well prepared to attend their workplace on time - ready to learn and enjoy new experiences.

University information sessions

There are a number of universities offering course information sessions online this term.  Information regarding these have been posted on Teams.  Students should consider attending seminars for courses and universities they may be considering.  This is great preparation for university open days, which will occur in Term 3.

Victorian Careers Show

With the VCE & Careers Expo done for another year, those that missed out should consider heading to the Victorian Careers Show on May 13th and 14th.
