From the Principal

We would like to acknowledge the original custodians of this land

and pay our respects to the Elders past and present and emerging,

for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia.

ANZAC Day Commemoration Service

Last Sunday, 24 April, I had the privilege  to be part of the  Anzac Day Service at the Caulfield Park Cenotaph. Our School Captains, Tess and Darcy, represented our school and proudly placed a wreath at the Cenotaph on our behalf.

The opportunity to be part of this ceremony was a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in a country where we can openly give thanks to those who fought to protect their people.

Lest We Forget!

Parents attending school events

The updated COVID Orders status allows all parents to attend any events both at school or offsite without having to prove vaccination e.g. mass, assembly or a sporting event. However, volunteers at school events or those performing work at school are classed as "volunteers" and in this instance are called "education officer".  All volunteer/ education officer's must must be fully vaccinated (boosted) or have an exemption in line with Workers and Volunteers in Schools under the Pandemic (Workplace) Order 2022 (No. 8).  A reminder that all Working With Children's Checks should be current.

Shade Sails

The installation of the Shade sails is under way and should be completed over the next few weeks.  This State  Government initiative will allow for external learning spaces and shaded play area for our students.

Monsignor Diamond's 80th Birthday

A celebration will take place on Sunday 15 May to celebrate Monsignor Diamond's special birthday.  The day will start with Mass at 11.00am followed by a luncheon. More information will be shared in the coming week. As a past Parish Priest for over 25 years he rightly deserves the recognition he gave to the parish community.

Winter Uniform - Term 2

Term 2 sees the return of our school's Winter Uniform. Black school shoes are to be worn, not runners. Long sleeves are necessary in our colder days. Wearing a short sleeved polo with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath is not the uniform.  Navy blue tights, knee high or crew white or navy socks can be worn with the Winter uniform.

Sports uniform may be worn only  on designated sports days. Don’t forget to name all clothing, especially if recently bought. We encourage families to contact the Second Hand Uniform Shop for Winter uniform options. Each item is sold at $2.00 each, except for tunics or dresses at $5.00 each.  Just email the office@santglen.catholic.edu.au and either Kathy or Liz will get back to you regarding stock availability.

School Fees & Levies 2022

Families are reminded that instalment two of school fees is due to be paid by Friday, 13th May 2022. Fee statements have been distributed this week.

Mother’s Day

I wish all the mothers or special people in our lives a happy day next Sunday where you all get the chance to be a little bit spoilt.  I hope that there will be time for you all to be shown the appreciation of what motherhood really entails. Happy Mother's Day!

Yours faithfully

Margaret Carlei

Principal

A Mother's Day Blessing

Blessed is the Mother

Who lets the Lord be her guiding hand,

Whose faith brings her family courage

Whose wisdom comes from God,

and whose children still stand and honour her.
