Vermont Secondary College

EMR Bowls

The Coles Bowls Academy (CBA) embarked on its 2nd year in the EMR Bowls Competition. After a series of trials and training sessions, the students displayed a great deal of enthusiasm and motivation to compete for the College. On Tuesday the 26th of April, the weather was superb and it was a successful day all-round for our students and the 10 teams competing on the day.

The most pleasing aspect for the competition was the fantastic sportsmanship and passion displayed on the day. Our senior team of Tyson G, Tim K & Matt C fell short at the final hurdle and were beaten by Doncaster SC in the Grand Final. In the junior section, all teams were in the running to progress through to the state finals on Thursday 5th of May. The winning Year 9 team of Lucas H, Austin L & Kai T kept their composure in the Grand Final, with a gallant effort from Aidan S, Ben L & Tom L taking 2nd place.

Thank you to the Heatherdale Bowls Club for their continued support of the CBA, and we look forward to many students continuing with this great sport for years to come!

EMR/State Diving

Early bird gets the worm! On Monday the 2nd of May at 7.15am 5 enthusiastic first time divers embarked on a journey to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The day commenced with the new/inexperienced divers clinic run by Diving Victoria. Students had the opportunity to learn some skills in a one hour session with diving coaches ahead of competing.

Shortly after, expert diver and Vermont’s very own Victorian Institute of Sport athlete Ben W arrived to assist with coaching as well as competing.
