Principals report

I hope you have been enjoying the glorious weather this week. Spring has finally graced us with its presence, and we are not complaining. It is lovely to see the students enjoying the sunshine and teachers taking the opportunity to take classes outdoors for reading and other activities. It is hard to believe we are halfway through term and planning is well underway for next year.

I am looking forward to celebrating all our achievements, share our plans for 2023 and give parents/carers the opportunity to contribute to our 2023 plans and beyond and most importantly feedback on how we can continue to strengthen partnerships between home and school. I strongly encourage at least 1 parent from each family to attend the parent forum on Wednesday 23rd November from 6:30-7:30pm – please RSVP using the link provided.

Congratulations to all foundation (prep) 2023 children who participated in the Flying Start program over the past few weeks. Ms Allender and Ms Smith have had a lovely time working with all the children and supporting them to prepare for school life next year. The foundation transition programs has started this week and we are excited to meet and get to know all our new students over the coming weeks.

We have a number of exciting events planned before the end of the year, including camps, end of year celebrations and excursions. One more event we are really looking forward to is bringing our community together at our inaugural whole school Colour Run. Planning is well underway, and for this event to run successfully we are seeking volunteers to support the BBQ and cake stall. We are also after empty (and clean) sauce bottles. If you are available to assist, please contact the school office. (5562 4100)

Likewise, we are seeking parent helpers for the state election BBQ on Saturday 26th November. Please contact the office if you are available.

I would like to congratulate Mrs Ann Dwyer on successfully being appointed to the substantive Assistant Principal role. Ann has played a pivotal role in the success of the Warrnambool East journey over many years, has always willingly stepped into the acting principal and acting assistant principal roles many times and we are very fortunate to have someone of Ann’s calibre in this role.

School Council have approved the following dates for assessing students one on one in preparation for next year. The school will not be running formal classes on these days. Please contact the office if you require supervision for your children on these days.

Friday  16th December - Assessment day (individual times to be allocated)

Monday 19th December  – Assessment day (individual times to be allocated)

Tuesday 20th December – teacher planning day for 2023 (students not required at school)

Friday 27th January, 2023 – Curriculum Day (pupil free day – Their care available)

Monday 30th January, 2023 – Assessment day (individual times to be allocated)

Tuesday 31st January, 2023 – Assessment day (individual times to be allocated)

Wednesday 1st February, 2023 – First day of school for all students (P-6), 2023

Please assist the office staff in calling the office with messages from students no later than 2.30pm. The office is a busy place each afternoon, and we do not want to run the risk of your child not receiving the message.

We have noticed a number of students at school before 8.30. Teachers arrive at school between 8 and 8.30 and are not officially on duty until 8.40. Please keep this in mind, as this poses a safety issue for the students.

A reminder we are finalising parent payments for 2022. Please contact the office if you require more detail on your payment status.
