Principal's Report

JAPANESE DAY

As always, Japanese Day was filled with excitement and provided lots of learning opportunities for the kids.  A big thank you to the many parents that helped their children dress up.  A good proportion of our kids clearly love to dress up and that certainly helped them get in the spirit of the day.  And a big thankyou and congratulations to Terrie Domaschenz and Liz Morgan who planned and coordinated the day.

EARLY YEARS AWARDS

Our Prep team and staff at the local kinder are very excited, as later this week (Wednesday evening), they’ll be attending an Early Years Awards ceremony at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne.

For a number of years our Prep and the kinder team have worked closely to ensure children transition smoothly from kinder to school.  That work has been recognised through this nomination and we wish all involved the best of luck tomorrow night.

Regardless of the outcome, their efforts to collaborate and do what’s best for the kids is a credit to them.

GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY

A reminder to everyone that we have our Grandparents and Special Friends Day on November 25.  It feels like a very long time since this event has been able to run and we are looking forward to having hundreds of visitors on this day.

If your children have grandparents that can attend, please invite them along, but if not, they are welcome to invite anyone else that is special to them…that might even be you.

Our guests are invited to come along between 9am and 11am to visit classrooms and we will have people around to help visitors find the relevant classrooms.  Our teachers will organise activities during this time that allow our grandparents and special friends to get involved.

At 11am our visitors will be invited to the BER for some morning tea and a chat.  In the past we have had parents bring along a plate, resulting in an amazing spread for our grandparents to enjoy.  We’d like to do the same again and invite all families to send something along.  We also need a few adults to help organise and serve morning tea.  Please see the attached link below to sign up if you can help.

We’ll be looking for helpers between 10am and midday, but any help during that period would be appreciated.

To give you a sense of the day, we have included some photos from previous events.
