Year 7 Applied Learning

This term, Year 7 worked on a project called $20 Boss. In this project all of year 7 were challenged to make their own business with a starting fund of $20 provided by Young Change Agents to kickstart their businesses.

Throughout class, we were given time and opportunities to work on our business’ quality, create marking posters, work on our presentation techniques and make our products. Last Wednesday the 7 December 2022, we were able to bring our products to life and sell them to the school. We sold things like ice cream, lemonade, jewellery and candles. By the end of the day students made $1964.95 to donate to our charity, 'Make A Wish'.

It was a great success for all of the students.

Year 8 Applied Learning

This term Year 8 students had the opportunity to select their own passion project. Students selected something new they wanted to learn about and then planned the steps to achieving this goal. How would they spend their time each lesson? What resources and support would they need? Where would they find this? These were all things Year 8 planned for themselves. The results were surprising, with some self proclaimed procrastinators realising that they could plan their time well when it was a topic they’d chosen. Some opted to work collaboratively to teach their friends a new skill, helping to keep each other motivated, while others worked independently. After the passion projects, we launched into speech writing skills as the students reflected on their own growth over the past two years. They were challenged to consider how they had grown as people and what had helped and challenged them in their first two at Henry Kendall. All of Year 8 finished the year by presenting their speeches and their growth to their class. Awesome work Year 8.
