Special Education

On Friday Week 6 the Special Education students were all involved in their special Social Skills Day. The day is a chance for the students to practice their independence and celebrate all we have learnt in our social skills lessons throughout the year.

Students are involved in workshops to promote their safety in the community and self-defence skills. They then dress and groom themselves to attend lunch in the famous HKHS Coffee Shop. The day was a fabulous success with the students all displaying excellent manners and thoroughly enjoying the day.

Another big thank you must go to the Brisbane Water Soroptimists for their ongoing support of our Girls Group program.

Swimming Program

We have just completed five two-hour swim sessions at Gosford Pool. It was a great experience for all of our students. Some students had learn to swim lessons whilst others had squad like training sessions. For some of our students it was a great chance to have hydrotherapy with our wonderful staff. A big thanks to Clubs NSW and in particular Central Coast Leagues Club for giving us a grant to run this fantastic initiative.

Shrek

On Friday 21 October 2022, all Special Education students and staff attended Central Coast Grammar School's Performing Arts Centre to watch the stage show, 'Shrek The Musical.' Students were able to experience and practice travel training through walking to Gosford Station from the school and then catching a public bus to CCGS located in Erina Heights.

The show was performed in the Performing Arts Centre in an Auditorium layout and our students were given the opportunity to sit close to the stage. Our students relished the opportunity to view the show and participate in the comedy through clapping, laughing along and giving the student actors a standing ovation. We would like to thank Mrs Bronwyn Bennett and CCGS for arranging this excursion.

Love Bites

Special Education students participated in the Love Bites program on Friday 10 November. Students worked in a workshop format on topics like: Healthy Relationships, Friendships and Making Smart Choices. It was great to see the students actively involved and interested in these important issues. This program complimented Mr McNally's PDHPE classes and our Social Skills programs (Home Group). A huge thank you to the Love Bites team!
