PDHPE Faculty &

Sport News

The PDHPE faculty would like to congratulate the students on a successful year of learning. The staff are extremely proud of the effort and commitment that the students demonstrated and were equally excited to return to a more typical structure within lessons.

This year, saw the return of our Dance unit (to the delight of staff and most students). This unit was a highlight for the faculty, and we are very proud of the maturity and enthusiasm shown by the students. The quality of the performances for the dance assessment was very high which made selecting the Mr and Miss Dance titles for 2022 very challenging.

In 2022, we were able to successfully run both Swimming and Athletics Carnivals and were impressed with the engagement across all age groups. A significantly large number of students progressed through to the Zone Carnivals where Henry Kendall High School performed well. We would like to congratulate all students who participated and progressed through these competitions.

The Year 7 Swimming Program was also able to proceed this year in Term 4. The students enjoyed themselves and showed improvements across all ability levels. We hope the students continue to build upon these skills and apply their water and sun safety knowledge over the summer holiday period.

We would like to make a special mention to our Year 10 students who have now completed their junior PDHPE courses. This year has finished with a deep dive into nutrition, and we are proud of the engagement from the students and hope to see them apply their knowledge and understanding into their future decision making. Additionally, Year 10 have engaged with a risk-taking unit centred around driver safety and took part in the B-Street Smart and RYDA driver safety programs. We hope these skills well assist the students as they begin their journey as young drivers.

The students also participated in a range of knockout and gala day sporting competitions including: netball, basketball, soccer, touch football, Oz-Tag, Cricket, Brisbane Water Zone Gala day and Cooindah Cup. We would like to congratulate these students on their efforts and the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the year.

Finally, I would like to thank the PDHPE staff for your dedication and commitment to the role. The pride you take in helping your students achieve their best is worth acknowledging and celebrating. I would also like to thank Mr Kessler who joined us in Term 4, your experience and enthusiasm has been a great addition to our faculty.

We are wishing you all a safe and enjoying Christmas break and look forward to our return in 2023.
