Mathematics

Faculty

The Mathematics Faculty would like to congratulate students for their hard work and dedication over the course of 2022. Many students have developed skills in setting personal learning goals and engaging in all classroom activities and this has led to a vast improvement in their mathematical skills and depth of knowledge and understanding.

A big congratulations also needs to go to our Year 12 class of 2022 who managed a very disrupted time throughout high school and persevered to the end. We are sure that you will be rewarded with excellent HSC results when they are released. Whatever your results, we hope that you are able to utilise the skills you have learned at Henry Kendall High School in your future and find happiness in whatever you choose to do.

It has been impressive to witness students across all years maintaining their diligence through to the end of the year. Our current Year 12 students have made a great start to their HSC year with all courses completing their first assessment task in Weeks 9 and 10. Whilst the holidays are a time to rest and recharge, it is also a great opportunity to organise your notes, revisit difficult concepts, complete topic summaries and ensure that all work is up to date. All mathematics courses have now completed enough content for students to start working through past HSC questions on the content covered so far. There are three terms of hard work coming up in 2023 and it is important to start off on the right foot, so the holidays could be a fantastic opportunity to start preparing!

Our very successful ‘Maths and Milo’ mornings have run throughout 2022. This is a free maths tutorial class where any student may drop-in to GL9 from 8.00am onwards every Tuesday morning to either receive maths tutoring or tutor a younger student. It is a wonderful opportunity to work through maths problems over a cup of milo! There is no need to register for ‘Maths and Milo’, just turn up. We look forward to offering this service again in 2023. Special thanks to Mrs. Thornton for her coordination of this valuable program.

We wish everyone in our school community a happy and safe holiday break and look forward to seeing you again next year.
