Spotlight on our Learners - Prep

Reading 

In Reading, we have been learning how to make text connections, infer what hasn’t been written and build our skills with a variety of strategies including decoding, blending and re-reading. We have studied some well-known authors such as Julia Donaldson and Eric Carle and learned all about their writing style and history as authors.   

Writing 

In Writing, the students have continued to write recounts, including the who, what and where. They have used their creativity and imagination to construct an entertaining writing piece. They have included a beginning, middle and end part to their stories. 

Maths

In Maths, the students have been learning all about numbers and how to break numbers up into parts. They have explored subitising numbers to 10 and beyond using dots and tens frames as well as lots of fun games. We continue to learn all about numbers to 20 and number concepts using a range of hands-on materials and activities.

School Life 

We have had some exciting events happen over the term! The Firefighters came to visit us and discussed fire safety. We were able to explore the fire truck and use the hose. We also enjoyed some pool time in our intensive swimming program. Over the week they practised different types of swimming and swimming safety. The last day of the program the Preps had a super fun day on a big inflatable.
