Social Justice

Year 4/5 and 5/6 Social Justice Initiative

In R.E. this term Year 4/5 and 5/6 have been learning more about Jesus’ message and how He wants everyone to care for and help each other. Already at St Brigid’s we use the ice block profits to help Vinnies who help the poor of Kilburn. However, theYear 4/5 class and the 5/6 class wanted to do even more, so Ms Brook and Ms Del Medico told the story of Ling Lin and how she helped her community. The  teachers and students became inspired and decided to help our community by making ‘gifts of gratitude’ bags. Inside the ‘gifts of gratitude’ bags there were clay hearts tied with ribbon, thank you tags, a little heart-shaped chocolate, decorated bags and a letter written by the 5/6’s. These were then distributed at the Kilburn Community Hall to thank the stallholders and volunteers for supporting our local community.

The 4/5 and 5/6 classes have also planted mint, strawberries, lettuce basil and oregano. These  are going to the Vinnies House of Welcome later in the term, when they have grown to be shared among the local community,

Well Done 4/5 and 5/6 Classes and Teachers for truly living out our OLSH pillar of this term, We are Heart People Who Touch the Heart Of All.

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning

Amanda Brook, Alana Del Medico
