Leadership Report
We are almost midway through the last term of the school year. The weather is gradually warming up – finally, and students have been busy across the school with various incursions, excursions, camps and learning opportunities.
The Year 6s have been on Camp this week to Wirraway near Strathalbyn. Some of the highlights were the horse riding and sheep herding. A special thanks to the staff for making these opportunities a possibility for Magill students, and thanks also to the volunteers who assisted.
The Year 1 students were involved in a Guided Bush Play Experience at Morialta this week, 2 classes at the start of the week and another 2 classes today. It was great to see parents supporting these experiences by assisting with the supervision.
The Reception classes are looking forward to their visit to the Urrbrae Nature Trail next week. There will be some great learning opportunities to follow these experiences.
Year 2 students are looking forward to their incursion – Bricks 4 Kids. Look out for photos of their creations soon.
Many classes are reflecting on their learning across the year and celebrating their achievements. Teachers have been reviewing improvements and preparing end of year reports. It has been great to see some of the growth evident in students involved in our intervention programs. Reports, reflecting student learning, will be distributed in Week 9.
A new Director has been appointed for our Out of School Hours Care service. Sajee Fonseka will join our service in the New Year on January 9th. We will look forward to welcoming her. In the meantime, Anna, her leadership team and crew of enthusiastic Educators are doing a great job of continuing the excellent service provided and will ensure a smooth transition for the new leadership in 2023.
The Instrumental Music Concert was a huge success last Wednesday night, with a packed auditorium enjoying the fine-tuned performance. The musicians and their music teachers had obviously worked hard in the lead up, and the quality was surprising, especially considering the young age of many of the performers.
In a couple of weeks’ time, we will welcome the Kindy students for their transition visits. The first visit will be an after school one, where children will be able to explore the school setting in a quiet and calm manner. The second will take place the following week and will introduce children to a morning block at their new school.
Secondary school transitions will also soon be taking place for our Year 6 students.
Swimming lessons will be held next week for our Year 3 – 5 students at The Arc in Campbelltown. Another great opportunity for our students to learn, grow and challenge themselves in the physical domain.
Enjoy the special celebratory activities that come with the last few months of the year.
Thank you.
