Healesville Sanctuary

All Year 7 students were recently invited to attend Healesville Sanctuary for a science excursion. Students have been learning about animals and the interaction and habitats they live in.

Students learnt that the Leadbeater’s Possum lives in forests close to Melbourne. Each year, the Orange-Bellied Parrot flies from Tasmania to Victoria and that there are 10,000,000 feral cats around that destroy these habitats.

Students came up with good discussion points and ideas on how we can design new homes for the Orange Bellied Parrot to keep them safe from predators.

Special mention to Malik, Zavier, Tia, Cooper and Chloee for the innovative thinking that they displayed on the day.

Students had a fantastic time while completing hands on learning with thinking and design.
