What I am Reading

Thank you Ms Spiller-Ball for sharing this book review.

Recently I have been reading a book called 'The Cuckoo’s Calling', which I found to be an interesting read. The main character is Cormoran Strike, a private investigator and war veteran, who is far from his prime and carries with him many wounds from his troubled life.

You follow his investigation into the death of a young model, which was initially thought to be a suicide, but the more Strike investigates this young women’s death, the darker things become.

What really happened to her? Did she really commit suicide or is there more to the story than meets the eye? And what is the cost of uncovering the full truth to this girl’s story?

“The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.”

Warning for the reader, once you start this book it is hard to put down. Even though this is Robert Galbraith’s first crime novel, you would not know it – it is as though the writer has had ‘polyjuice potion’ as they appear to be a very experienced writer, drawing in the reader with their elegant writing and gripping storyline – even the writer is a mystery.
