Week 6, Term 4

Reminders 

  • Home Reading Diaries must be checked each night and come to school Friday with a parent signature. Students will need to read a minimum of 20 minutes for 4 nights each week.
  • Homework - Week 7: Reading Diary and Studyladder Tasks (as given by teacher)
  • Homework - Week 8: Reading Diary and Big Talk Homework
  • Be Awesome Day - Week 7: Tuesday, 15th November (please see below for more information)

Grandparents' Day  

Thankyou so much to all of our wonderful grandparents who were able to visit for Grandparents' Day. The students had a great time welcoming you into our classrooms and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces! 

Be Awesome Day - Week 7

We are very excited for our upcoming Be Awesome Day on Tuesday, 15th November! Thankyou so much to all those who have donated to our stalls so far. 

 

The following donations are still needed if you are able to assist - Thankyou! 

 

  • 3/4 Green: glass jars of all different sizes
  • 3/4 Feldtmann/Smith: temporary tattoos (school appropriate)
  • 3/4 Daenke: secondhand books of all shapes and sizes (picture books, novels, non-fiction books, etc.) and across age groups - donated books should be in good condition and suitable for school-aged children
  • 3/4 Mitchell: assorted novelty gifts (bubbles, bouncy balls, small toys, slinkies, etc.)
  • 3/4 Staley/Alexander: assorted packets of jelly beans

 

Learning in Weeks 7 & 8

Mathematics: We are continuing to learn about 'Money and Decimals' during our Maths Fluid Groups and will begin looking at 'Mass and Capacity' during our Applied Maths sessions. Students will also be completing a couple of fun Fraction solving lessons in our Friday Maths classes. 

Writing & Reading: Students will be revisiting Persuasive Writing and have the opportunity to design their own advertisement as well as review the structure of a Persuasive text. In Reading, we will focus on inferring meaning and making predictions as we read. 

 

Topic: Filming is well on its way and will continue this fortnight. Students will also begin the editing process of merging videos and adding voices and sound effects to their stop motion films.
