Learning about Boonwurrung Culture

On Wednesday November 2 our students and educators were very fortunate to attend a workshop run by Jaeden Williams a proud Yalukit William man of the Boonwurrung. Jaeden is the founder and director of Biik Bundjil, a Boonwurrung educational organisation: and managing director of Only Freshies Apparel, a Boonwurrung-led clothing brand.

Through fun and engaging storytelling Jaeden shared a story of Bundjil, who travels as a wedge-tailed eagle, and is protected by Waa, who travels as a crow. We learnt some Boonwurrung language and our bubups (children) were supported to explore the importance of ‘connection’ and looking after Country. We can’t wait to have Jaeden come back and continue to guide us on our learning journey as we increase our knowledge of Boonwurrung language and culture.

OSHC Garden

Over the last few weeks our students have been enjoying making healthy salads using fresh produce from our garden. Feel free to pop in and ask them to make you a small bowl, there is always plenty to go around!
