THE ARTS DEPARTMENT

The Lower School Music Concert last Friday was a fantastic display of our younger students’ musical talents. There were many outstanding performances and each student on stage looked like they were thoroughly enjoying their moment. I am sure all attendees were proud of the students’ abilities and were delighted with this showcase evening. My thanks to Ms Linda Anstiss, the Music teachers and tutors for preparing the students for the event.

The busyness of The Arts Learning Area continues tonight and Saturday evening where students in Year 10, supported by students in Years 9 and 11, are performing Legally Blonde The Musical Jr. The musical is based on the 2001 movie Legally Blonde and promises to be lots of fun. Tickets are still available for both this evening's and Saturday evening's performancesHERE

On Wednesday next week, the College has our Art Exhibition Awards and Media Showcase Night - an opportunity to see all the incredible work of our students who study Visual Arts and/or Media. I had the opportunity to see some of the artwork on exhibition yesterday and I was highly impressed with the quality across all year groups.

ICAS AWARD WINNER

We were informed earlier this week that Alexandra Mennie (Year 12 Normandy/Academic Captain) is a Gold Medal recipient in the 2022 ICAS Science Competition, making her the top performing student in this category. ICAS competitions are set in real-world scenarios where school students are assessed on their ability to apply classroom learning to new contexts, using higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills. Receiving a medal in the ICAS competition is most impressive. Over the years, Alexandra has received a total of four Gold Medals! Congratulations on your outstanding achievements, Alexandra.

YEAR 9 CAMP

One of the significant events for the Year 9s is their camp to be held next week. It is part of their Into Adulthood learning program which allows each student to engage in learning opportunities that are rich in personal growth and development. The camp setting will encourage students to develop independence and the ability to work positively with others. The relational group building activities, together with the self-sufficient style of camp, will challenge each person to extend themselves beyond their comfort zone. I hope that each student will come away from their camp with a better knowledge of their personal strengths and with an improved ability to gain effective relationships with others.  My best wishes to all the Year 9 students for a successful and enjoyable camp next week.

YEAR 11, 2022

Our Year 11 students concluded their formal classes today, starting the day with a year group Mass. I look forward to their return in 2023 as Year 12s - our College Leaders. Year 12 is an exciting year, and it will be filled with many memorable experiences. I wish them well for their examinations and hope they have an enjoyable and restful break, eager to return next year to tackle their final year of secondary education with a new energy and enthusiasm.

40+ YEAR REUNION

The Class of 1982 and prior will be having their 40+ Year Reunion at the College on Saturday morning. The school has clearly changed and added many facilities since 1982 and all guests will be offered a nostalgic tour of the College grounds. This is sure to prompt interesting stories and conversations and our Archivist, Mrs Peta Madalena, will be in attendance to record some of these stories. Thank you to our Alumni and Community Relations and Marketing team for your work in this area.

God Bless.
