After School Care News

Our Recap

Sam O'Bryan, Extend Educator

Every afternoon has seen us slip, slop, slap and put on a hat to enjoy this wonderful November heat!

To keep cool, we have all enjoyed making use of the spray bottle and sponges in some small water fights! In the kitchen, we enjoyed making  delicious and refreshing snacks like rice paper rolls. We also tried our hand at making  ‘shaved ice’ cones which were perfect in this heat!

Indoors,  we created our own emojis, constructed some great Lego and tried our hand at creating a bubble snake using old water bottles and socks!

Farewell from Me

I provide a forewarning that in the next section I will be a bit self-indulgent! I will try to keep it short!

It is hard to believe after three fun-filled years my time at Extend is about to come to an end.

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone for embracing me and making me feel a part of this wonderful community.

I want to specifically thank the amazing children that I have had the privilege of caring for. Each afternoon I have been lucky enough to enjoy being a kid myself, some might even say a clown!

There are too many instances where I have found myself laughing hysterically at some joke or smiling uncontrollably at the way the kids interact with and look after each other. Honestly, I could not have asked for a better bunch of kids to work with. I have no doubt that they will all go on to do amazing things!

Secondly, a shout out to all you wonderful parents for letting me into your family's lives. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for the support you have provided me and my team over the last three years. I consider myself extremely fortunate that we have been able to develop such wonderful, positive relationships. I will certainly miss the great conversations that I have with so many of you.

Only a little more to go!

I’d also like to extend my gratitude to the Kilvington staff for the way they have welcomed and supported me through the years. Each and every day I am thankful for the smiles, laughs and jokes we have shared as well as the guidance and advice that many have provided me as I enter the teaching profession.

To the great educators who I have had the privilege of working with and mentoring through the years … it has been a blast! Thank you for doing all the boring jobs like washing the dishes and packing up the room for me!

Finally, just one last time … thank you!
