New EAL Staff

Welcome

We are joined by new staff this year to continue addressing the needs of our EAL students.

Ms. Annette Davis is a local of Geelong Victoria, with grandparents from the UK.  After her BA in Education, she started as a primary school teacher and moved up to secondary teaching with Maths and Science. She also taught Year 7 to 13 Maths for 12 months in London. We are very fortunate to have Ms. Davis in our team. She helps to further develop the numeracy skills of our students.

Ms. Tanele Spiteri  was born in Australia, with an Italian Mum and a Maltese Dad. Interestingly enough, she hasn't been to either country, though!  After her BA in Social Work, she enrolled in Arts/Education.  She also did a Master EAL course online and taught English briefly in Thailand and Japan.

We are also joined this year by Ms. Tigist Kebede. She is an aspiring counsellor currently taking her Masters at Victoria University.  She has volunteered for AfroCare, the Mental Illness Fellowship of Victoria, Smiles for Miles and Save a Soul.  She comes in for placement on Wednesdays and Fridays, and works with the Wellbeing and EAL Team.

Other members of the department include:

EAL Coordinator:  Ms. Felicity Hemiak

EAL Teachers: Ms. Nicole Jowett, Ms. Erin Favero

MEA: Ms. Yvette Medina
