Sustainability at St Raphael's

Winter in Our Outdoor Learning Space
As always our Outdoor Learning Space has been a hive of activity with 3/4 students and 5/6 students joining in the fun and activities.
As well as our regular gardening tasks, this week some of our students completed an obstacle course to obtain their wheelbarrow licence. We are proud to announce that all six students successfully completed the course and will be presented with their licence next week!
We have also started something new! Each week, different students will get to report and photograph all that's been happening during their sustainability sessions in our Outdoor Learning Space with their thoughts published right here in the school newsletter.
We hope you enjoy hearing about all that we are doing in the children's own words.
Year 5/6
In 5/6, we have been investigating in the garden. We have been learning how to garden and weed. Our goal is to keep the garden clean and healthy.
Some of us have been planting and others have been doing weeding. In the garden we have found lots of beautiful plants and flowers and we have also found bugs. We have jobs every week such as planting, weeding, watering etc.
Each week people change jobs so everyone does something new. Everyone gets one job every Friday.

Year 3/4
Elizabeth is working hard on a teepee. Sienna F is driving the wheelbarrow. Sean and his team are finding weeds. Olivia F is making artwork. Arabelle, Zoe B, Alana and Jane are making a big teepee. Steven and Nicholas are also making artwork with Olivia F. The wheelbarrow licence was a success.

Donations wanted
We are always on the lookout for donations of seeds, seedlings and old terracotta or ceramic pots in our Outdoor Learning Space.
Also, to help our new Sound Garden sing, we are requesting old biscuit tins with lids, tin cans with lids such as 'Milo' containers and rectangular olive oil tins.
Please drop off your items at the Garden Shed any time and feel free to leave a message in our communication book so we can say thanks.
