Try, Persevere and Achieve

Try, Persevere and Achieve
How are we ensuring all students at Staughton College are learning?
At Staughton College, we have an expectation that all students will be successful in their schooling. Our school motto of ‘try, persevere, achieve’ embodies how we want our students to approach their learning.
Try
This means giving everything a go, no matter how hard it might appear. We often learn the most through our mistakes and if students try hard in class, then teachers are able to provide them with feedback to improve.
Persevere
This means that students need to keep trying, even when it gets hard. The best thing is that at school there are people who can help when students get stuck! Teachers don’t always know when someone is stuck though, so students need make sure they ask questions. Friends are also a good source of help.
Achieve
Achievement and success will come when you try and persevere. This will look different for every student. That is why it is important for students to set goals. At Staughton College we expect every student to achieve their goals and we will do everything we can to help.
What makes a student successful as a learner?
Parents, you can help to ensure your children are prepared by:
- Getting them to read their texts before they start working on them in class.
- Reminding them to pack their bag the night before.
- Helping create a study timetable with time allocated to each subject.
- Ensuring they have all of the materials needed for each of their classes.
- Providing a space that is dedicated to study for your child.
- Talking regularly to them about their goals.
