K-2 Father's Day Liturgy and Morning Tea

We had a wonderful morning celebrating our fathers, grandfathers and uncles at the K-2 Father's Day Liturgy. It was great to see all the visitors sharing a special morning tea with their children.

K-6 Books and Brains Day

Books and Brains Day was once again a day full of excitement and fun!  The day began with the Books and Brains Day Parade in the hall.  The effort that our K-6 students (and parents!) went to is to be congratulated. The reading rotations after recess were a great success.  Students moved around five stations listening to a variety of books being read to them.  A huge thank you must go to the secondary students who happily accepted the invitation to be part of the rotations and read to the younger students.

Year 6 excursion to Hervey Bay

Monday

Monday was a very exciting day for Year 6, as we were departing eagerly from Moree at 6am sharp.  We all boarded the bus quickly and waved goodbye for the week. On the bus trip we sang songs, watched movies and got to know each other a whole lot better! We arrived at Camp Pialba at 3.30pm where we rushed into our cabins and got changed quickly for a swim at the beach. We swam and played games of beach cricket and footy!

Tuesday

On Tuesday we discovered the amazing Fraser Island (The biggest sand island known by man). At Lake Mckenzie we swam in the beautifully clear water that is entirely rain water. After Lake Mckenzie we journeyed to Central Station where we saw fascinating plants, trees and the clearest river on the island. After our buffet lunch we had a bumpy ride on the beach where we discovered the coffee rocks, some whale carcuses and the war ship wreckage. After we left Fraser, we went back to Camp Pialba for our night routine.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we went on the Spirit of Hervey Bay Whale Watching Cruise where we saw many whales. Hervey Bay locals said it was the best and closest they have ever been to the whales. After this we journeyed to the Gold Coast where we went to Outback Spectacular that was VERY spectacular! As we enjoyed our three course meal, a play was performed showing all the different aspects of our Australian Outback. We checked into our Runaway Bay lodges later that night.

Thursday

We enjoyed a buffet breakfast and then travelled to the Queensland Museum where we spent the majority of the time at the Science Centre. We were given a presentation on electricity and some time to explore the illusions. We had lots of fun doing the hands on experiments. Later on in the day we discovered more of the museum where we saw many types of taxidermied animals. On the way back to Runaway Bay, we changed our schedule and went shopping. We had an hour of power shopping and nobody left the mall empty handed. That night after dinner we performed our skits at the Phillies' Talent Quest. The group ‘CocoPops’ won with their play. Everyone slept very well that night.

Friday

We boarded the bus at 8:30am and headed home for Moree. We were all looking forward to seeing our families and sleeping in our own beds. It was a great week, one we will never forget.
