Library Monitors
Each year, students from Year 3-6 are invited to be a Library Monitor. This role involves volunteering one day a week to help me in the library with tasks such as helping others locate books, reading to the younger children, placing books back on the shelves correctly and teaching children the rules to the various games we have in the library. This year, I have been overwhelmed with the number of volunteers who have continuously turned up each week. At Friday’s assembly I had the chance to call all my Library Monitors up so they could be congratulated for their amazing effort and dedication to their role. It also enabled me to hand out official Library Monitor badges to the Stage 3 students.
Stage 3
During my lessons with Stage 3 this term we have been learning how to use wordart.com. WordArt provides you with the ability to create interesting text effects to a document. Students were given a section of library books eg, Junior Picture books, Senior Fiction, Junior Non-Fiction etc, and were asked to create a poster using book titles from that section. Students then voted on the one they would like to see printed out and displayed in the Learning Centre. The end result looks fabulous and the posters are now hanging in the Learning Centre.
Overdue Notices
Overdue Library Notices have been issued for outstanding books. Borrowing is for a 2 week period before they must be returned. Students are very welcome to re-borrow the same book but it must come back into the library for this to happen.
