Anzac Day
ANZAC Day falls in the tail end of the school holidays. As a school community, we will acknowledge this day tomorrow, Thursday, remembering those who served for their country allowing Australians to live peacefully enjoying democracy.
Let us also remember those Australians who currently make up the armed forces: the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) which are responsible for the defence of Australia. Among these people are ex students of St Philomena’s School; Private Lovett (Sean Lovett), Private Gray (Georgie Gray) and Reserves Leading Aircraftwoman Clissold (Paige Clissold)
Please refer to the whole school news page for the Community Anzac Day Ceremony March details.
Uniform Update
The Uniform Committee advises that early next term, sample items will be made available for feedback.
Goals:
A uniform re-imagined that defines us as St Philomena’s School which transfers across the K-10 cohort, has slight variation to define primary versus secondary.
Reduce uniform costs by eliminating stand alone winter uniform, minimising number of partnership suppliers and accessing supplier range versus commissioned garments
Investigate the option of our uniform shop being owned, supplied and managed by a school uniform company which specialise in manufacturing, supplying and operating school uniform shops.
We thank parents for their patience as we work through this period of transition. See Whole School News for more information.
P&F Social Evening
The Parents and Friends Association hosted a very successful social evening last Friday night. The work of the association has tremendous benefits for our school physical environment and student learning. By virtue of being a parent in our school, every mum and dad is a member of the Parents and Friends Association. Please support the activities and events in whichever way you can.
Annual School Improvement Plan
Every major organisation creates an annual plan based around goals and improvement. Annually, St Philomena’s creates its plan for these purposes. As a systemic school, meaning we are part of a larger system of schools in our Armidale Diocese, some our priorities and goals are shared by all schools in our system. In addition, we have our own local goals/strategies. Naturally, of course, the language around our document is written in educational jargon. This document profiles our big picture goals for 2018. Our team document is supported by further annotation.
There are four major areas of our 2018 Annual Improvement Plan: Faith Formation, Learning, Collaboration and Capacity Building.
