From the Principal Class Team

Naplan Online Testing

Naplan testing is running for Year 7 and 9 students from Tuesday, 14 May to Friday, 24 May.  We will be completing Naplan online this year and recommend students use their own devices and earphones to complete the tests.  Students unable to use their own device will have access to a computer and there will be headphones for those unable to provide their own.  Students have completed practice sessions to ensure they are familiar with the platform.  Timetables have been provided to Year 7 and 9 students and parents via compass and these outline when each class will sit each of the 4 tests; Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy.  These are nationwide tests which provide information on how we are preforming as a school in the key areas of numeracy and literacy against national and state benchmarks.  The individual reports enable students and their parents to know how they are tracking in each of these areas.  We use this data, along with all other student data, to assist us to best cater for students.  It also assists us to identify areas we can endeavour to improve.

European Study Tour

During the recent Easter holidays, 20 students accompanied by teachers travelled to France and Italy as part of our first ever European Study Tour. This opportunity enabled students to immerse themselves in the culture of countries that until this moment they had only been learning about in class. Having to converse in French and Italian (depending on the LOTE studied) students were able to not only strengthen their language skills but were able to take part in a once and a life time opportunity to learn firsthand about different cultures. A massive thank you to our LOTE Department and families for your tireless efforts in fundraising and organising this sensational trip.

Year 11 Careers Expo

On Thursday, 2 May all Year 11 students took part in the Careers expo at Caulfield racecourse.  This was a hugely successful event which provided students with valuable information about future pathways and career possibilities.  Thank you to the Senior Subschool Team for their organisation and management of what was a great opportunity for all who attended.  Students are encouraged to seek further information from the Careers Team in relation to careers that may have sparked their interest on this day or for any Careers they may be considering.

Year 9 Proactive Programs Day

Congratulations to our Middle Sub school for their organisation of a fantastic proactive programs day for our students during Term 2 Week 1. Students used this time to explore in detail how to build a school in which everyone feels connected protected and respected. Our proactive programs are an integral part of our Wellbeing Strategy at the College and ensure that all students can be their best self.

and finally

As the cold weather has begun, please make sure that your child has the warm winter uniform – jumper, jacket, long pants, winter skirt, and long sleeve tops.

Please note that hoodies and other non uniform tops, any scarves apart from the school scarf, and other non uniform items must not be worn at school, or on the way to or from school.

We greatly appreciate your support in ensuring that your child is in full uniform. If you need assistance with this, please contact your child’s Coordinator.
