SCIENCE AFTERNOON - DESTINATION THE MOON

To celebrate National Science Week and 50 years since the lunar landing we are running a science afternoon.

When: 15th August 2019 between 3:30pm-5:30pm.

Cost: Free

Who: Primary to Year 9 students

Where: Level 3 Science Learning Zone

 

Come fly to the moon, create a rocket, discover what happens to plants in space, drive a moon bot and discover many more wonders of space with the science teachers of Collingwood College. This free event is for Collingwood College families and the local community. Students with their parents or guardians are welcome to come to the science learning zone on level 3.  Translation for science terms will be available for common language groups represented in the school- including Chinese to help families with languages other than English on the night.

Our annual Spring Fair is on Sunday, 15th September, 2019: 11:00am - 4:00pm

AUSTRALIAN MATHEMATICS COMPETITION 

The Australian Mathematics Competition will be held on Thursday, 1 August (please note amended date).

 

The cost this year is $8 per student. 

Students will need to pay through Compass to enrol.  

Those students who have done the Maths Competition in the past have enjoyed it and they all receive a certificate for their participation and achievement.

THE GREAT BOOK SWAP 2019

Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd August, 2019 in the Library.

 

Collingwood College Library is going to host the Great Book Swap to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) vision to lift literacy levels and instil a lifelong love of reading in students in remote communities.

We have raised more than $4000 in the past seven years and we are doing it again.

Please donate books now (bring to the library before 21st August).

Come with the gold coin donation on the day -

one coin for one book. Everyone’s invited.

COLLINGWOOD COLLEGE HOMEWORK CLUB

Collingwood College Library Homework Club has recently resumed. Our school library is open to all secondary students as a place to complete their homework from 3PM to 5PM, Monday through Thursday. Free tutors from Melbourne Uni Embrace will be available for students for extra support over the coming weeks.
