PRIDE Month

Why acknowledge PRIDE Month?
Each year in June, Australia and various countries throughout the world celebrate PRIDE month. PRIDE celebrates the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual + community (LGBTQIA+). It provides an opportunity for Australians to acknowledge and honour equality, dignity, self-affirmation and acceptance for all people.
Australia is at the forefront of the push towards true equality and inclusion for LGBTQIA+ people, but there is more to do.
PRIDE Flag

The Progress Pride flag was created by non-binary artist and designer Daniel Quasar. They added a 5-coloured chevron to the left of the iconic rainbow flag.
The new colours of pink, light blue and white call back to the Transgender Pride Flag while the black and brown stripes represent marginalised LGBTQIA+ communities of colour. The black also represents those living with AIDS and those who have passed away from the disease. Inclusion and progression were important for Quasar to place greater emphasis on when creating this Progressive Pride flag.
