Around The School

Reconciliation Walk
On Thursday 2 June, Moama Anglican Grammar as a whole school, students and staff, acknowledged reconciliation week with a walk. This was led by the young Indigenous Awareness Committee with the guidance of Amy Lane. Over 600 students took part in our first annual reconciliation walk. A small group of students painted a beautiful banner for the school to walk behind. The banner represented different tribes, the river, scar tree, the local totem and a rainbow serpent. Next year we are hoping to invite community members for a bigger and longer walk.
Dookie Food & Fibre Careers Day
Years 9 and 10 Agriculture and Year 10 Primary Industries students attended the Dookie Food and Fibre Careers Day at the University of Melbourne’s Dookie Campus. The guest speaker was Warrick Long of ABC Radio’s Country Hour. Students attended various workshops including pruning vines, pasture assessment, robotic milking, equine care, indigenous agriculture, sheep, beef, the internet, agribusiness, water management and much more. A highlight of the day was the lunchtime relay against other schools. Although Moama Grammar was not victorious, Lucas, Maggie, Lexie and Dehlila raced through their tasks (collecting wool, pouring milk, delivering hay & repairing the tractor and squeezing oranges) with much cheering from the sidelines.
