From the Principal

Winter has certainly hit with an unfortunate cold snap that led to the postponement of our Winter Wonderland Disco and School Athletics Carnival. Both of these events will be held later in the term.

Please ensure that your child is suitably dressed in warm clothes. Beanies are available from the clothing shop and if you require any assistance, please contact me through the office.

This week the classes have been doing a range of activities about reconciliation along the theme Be Brave. Make Change. This theme is a challenge to us all to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for all.

Our school captains, Alex and Nathaniel attended the Young Leaders of the Central West Summit held recently at James Sheehan Catholic High School. Mrs Hodder accompanied the students and was very impressed in how both young men participated in the conversation and put forward ideas for the young people of the Central West.

Fifteen of our students also completed a 3-day barista course held by Verto. I'm very proud of the successes the students are having in linking their skills learned at school with the outside world. This course will ensure that students can hone their skills and secure employment.  Thank you to Ms Cox, Mrs Hodder and Miss Cowden who supported the students.

The final stages of the campus security have been completed, with each class having 2 exits and fob access at the gates and classroom doors. This will ensure safety for all and quick access and exit when needed.

A reminder that if students have any cold or flu symptoms please keep them at home. Many of our staff have had their flu vaccination and I encourage you and your child/children to also think about getting the flu shot to help keep everyone as healthy as possible.

Staffing in schools across NSW remains at a critical level and we have not escaped this significant issue. We are doing our best to cover classes but unfortunately, we have had to split classes when casual staff are not available. I thank our executive staff Mrs Griffen, Ms Pritchard, and Mrs Rosser for going on classes regularly to ensure that our students receive the best education.

Congratulations to Assistant Principal Mr Michael Wong-See and his wife on the birth of their first child, a baby son Peter. We wish the new family all the best.
