Open Night & Art Show
On Monday 23rd May, Foundation, Level One and Two students took to the Parklands to compete in the Junior school cross country. It was wonderful seeing all students cheering on their friends and exemplifying the schools values, particularly showing resilience in what was a challenging event. All students should be very proud of their efforts. Congratulations to our place holders from Foundation to Level 2.
On Tuesday 24 May, we warmly welcomed our grandparents and special friends into our classroom. Each class across the school participated in the National Simultaneous Storytime and listened to ‘Family Tree’ written by Josh Pyke and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh. Sitting with our grandparents, special friends, and peers, we enjoyed listening to the story and completing different craft activities.
There was a fantastic turn out at The Art Show last Wednesday. It was wonderful to see our beautiful community joining us to celebrate the creative talents of our students. They did an amazing job, embracing this show’s theme of celebrating Aboriginal Art and Culture. We are very proud of their efforts. We had an incredible team who helped us put the show together, which is testament to the supportive environment of JPPS.
There was a huge level of excitement buzzing around the school on Wednesday evening to celebrate our wonderful achievements at Jells Park PS. Food trucks started to arrive just before the end of our school day and the weather was perfect to welcome our school community and visitors. Our gym looked spectacular, filled with a variety of talented Indigenous inspired artwork from students all across the school for our Art Show. It was amazing to see so many people walking through the foyer admiring and making bids on the selected artwork up for auction. The students enjoyed showing their family and friends through their classrooms and participating in the activities set up for them. The night concluded back in the gym where our wonderful choir performed and the winners of the auction were announced. Thank you to everyone who came along on the evening to support our school, it was lovely to see everyone!
On Wednesday 25th May, 60 students travelled to Jells Park to compete in the WESA District Cross Country. We had 10 students from each gender and age level compete against 9 other schools in their selected distances. Congratulations to all students who competed and represented our school. The following students finished in the top 12 of their category and have progressed through the Division event on 1 June.

On Multi-Age Day the whole school got together in the gym. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the activities couldn’t go ahead outside. However, we were still able to mix in our multi-age groups and come together to complete different activities that celebrated indigenous culture.
A highlight was creating the indigenous flag with our students!
During Education week, the students faced off in a game of basketball against the teachers! It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and cheering on their peers. The teachers took home the win for both the senior and junior school matches, but the students sure made them work hard for it! Well done to all players involved.
