Shrine of Remembrance Excursion

Year 9 & 10

On Monday 16 May, the Year 9/10 'Events that Changed the World' classes visited the Shrine of Remembrance. This was a great way to conclude our topic from last term, in which we learnt about the Western Front and Australia’s contribution to the Allied military victory. During the tour of the Shrine, we took a journey back in time to 1918, and listened to tales of soldiers’ personal experiences in the war, accompanied by artefacts from the time.

Some of the highlights of the trip included getting the chance to look at the inside of the crypt, as well as observing a collection of the numerous different types of medals that could be won during the war. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend this to all history lovers and anyone else who wants to learn about the First World War.
