Careers

National Careers Week

The 16-20 May marked National Careers Week, an initiative of the Career Industry Council of Australia, celebrating careers, career development, career development services, and career development practitioners.

Students had the opportunity to attend and participate in a variety of activities throughout the week. Our Year 7 and 8 students completed their Career Action Plan and participated in a Careers Quiz. A group of students in Years 9 and 10 visited the Trades Fit Expo to learn about opportunities for women within the Trades and Tech Industries. A group of Year 10 students completed their White Card training in preparation work experience.

Students across Years 7 to 11 also had the opportunity to attend industry talks. Students heard from community members who work in Medicine, Law, Science, and Business and Marketing. Pathways and the role of various jobs within these industries were presented to students.

We would like to thank Dr. Peter Thomas, Nicole Ferrari, Carolyn Beaumont, Gehan Roberts, Vicky Tan, Leigh Hogarty-Langston and Matthew Page for volunteering their time to share their industry expertise with our students. We look forward to providing students with exposure to a variety of industries and careers throughout the year.
