REFLECTION

GOSPEL

When Judas had left them, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and God will glorify him at once.

My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.”

John 13:31-33A, 34-35

REFLECTION

The key message from this gospel reading is one that you may have noticed as you enter our school through the office foyer. Next time you visit, cast your eyes upon the wall behind the office staff.

The essence of God is love and God cannot but transmit love. This farewell address by Jesus instructs us to love one another. We are asked to transmit this love to others, because we have been gifted with a relationship with him. By showing love we are revealing God to the world.

This love is not a sentimental feeling. We witness to this love by who we are, what we do with our lives and how we treat others. We are invited to reflect and to open our hearts to see how we are relating to those around us, with ourselves and with God?
