Child Safety information for students, parents and staff

To support improved awareness about the child safety obligations that all members of the Girton school community share, an Astra button now appears on the home page of Astra for students, parents and staff.
Child Safety is of paramount importance at Girton and our Child Safety Code of Conduct clearly sets out acceptable and unacceptable behaviours to protect children and reduce any opportunities for child abuse or harm to occur.
On the staff Astra page, the Child Safety button takes users to relevant school Child Safety policies, presentations that are given to staff and useful links to external information sources. There is also a button that takes staff members directly to online Child Safe Training, which all staff are required to undertake.
On the student Astra page, the Child Safety button takes users to information on being safe and what to do if something doesn’t feel OK. There are several links to useful external information sources and places where students can turn for help.
On the parent Astra page, the Child Safety button takes users to information about the Child Safe Standards that schools are obliged to meet. The standards have been introduced to achieve a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse. The page also features Girton Child Safety policies and links to useful information.
The School’s Child Protection Officers, including photos and contact details, can be accessed via all Astra Child Safety buttons, as can a step-by-step description of what to do when responding to incidents, disclosures and suspicions of child abuse, which is depicted in the below poster, available via the Astra Child Safety button, or available via the following link:
