Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week. This year's theme is 'Go out into the world and spread the Good News to all creation,' from the Gospel of Mark 16:15. All Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Sale will celebrate Catholic Education Week from May 27 to June 3, 2022. The Diocese of Sale covers 38 Catholic primary schools and seven Catholic secondary schools in southeast Victoria from Narre Warren and Cranbourne in the west, Wonthaggi and Philip Island in the south, to Orbost in the east.

Please enjoy this video created by Ms Maria Kirkwood, the Director of Catholic Education Sale, as she speaks about Catholic Education Week.

This week, as part of Catholic Education Week, we are holding our Whole School Athletics Day. This will take place on Thursday, June 2 at Casey Fields. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to enjoy time together in an informal way. This day will provide the opportunity for our students to work together and to practice our school-wide expectations of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, COURTESY, AND COOPERATION.

On Wednesday, June 1 we are holding an information evening for parents to provide information on our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support. This evening is being presented by Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Osthmuller. Students are welcome and while the parents are listening to the presentation can join in watching a movie in the hall. This event is from 6pm - 7pm.

Student-Led Parent/Teacher Interviews

Later this term, we will hold Student-Led Parent/Teacher Interviews. These interviews are designed to support the Semester One reports that will go home in Week 8 of this term. Teachers and students will present to parents various work samples in a digital portfolio format that outlines what each student can do in the learning of English/EAL and Mathematics and what the student needs to work on in order to progress along the continuum of learning.  A letter will be sent out next week inviting parents to select a time to speak with their child's teacher at the Student-Led Parent/Teacher Interviews.

The interviews will take place face to face at the school. In order to assist us, we ask that students are collected at 1:30 pm on Tuesday 21st June so that teachers can be ready to begin interviews at 2:00 pm. Students who cannot be collected because their parents are working will be looked after in the Hall for the afternoon.

Staffing News

On behalf of the St Therese's community, I wish to extend my congratulations to Evelyn Kafaltis who currently teaches Senior K. Evelyn and her husband are expecting their first baby in October. Evelyn will begin maternity leave on August 29. We are currently going through the recruitment process to find a suitable replacement.

Donna Weare will be leaving St Therese's school at the end of Term 2. Donna has worked with our teachers and students in the role of Education Support Officer. I would like to thank Donna for her passion and commitment to our school and congratulate her on the way she has assisted students in their learning and overall wellbeing. I know that she will be missed by everyone.

Our last day for Term 2 is Friday 24th June. School resumes for Term 3 on Monday 11th July.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and stay and warm!
